Monuments
Voronezh is famous for its striking and distinctive monuments. For instance,
Liziukov Street is decorated by a scene from the Soviet cult cartoon “A kitten
from Liziukov street”, whose main character chanced to find himself in Africa
and was eager to get back home. There are other monuments devoted to animals:
White Bim Black Ear (a character from a novelette of the same name by
G.Troepolsky) and a swine. The latter was initiated by a local slaughterhouse –
the immortalized swine Mamka was the first representative of a new breed,
resulted due to four-breed crossing to correspond to European standards.
